Chairmaker, Scott Horne
Windsor Chairmaker. “The high point in American Windsor design occurred during the 1790s. Early nineteenth century work, although innovative, became coarser and relied more on paint and decoration than on the sculptural qualities of the form”(Evans,1996). Focusing on the former (the high point), I admix the allure and rarity of an unpainted Windsor, thereby departing from the traditionally black Windsor chair.
