Chelonidae Artistry

I am drawn to the mystery that involves working in scratchboard. You
start your artistic process with a completely black board, slowly you
scratch away the black to reveal your subject. Viewing that vast amount
of black can be very intimidating, but the challenge speaks to me.
Revealing the light, versus creating the dark, has a certain life
philosophy that resonates with me. Using only small strokes of the
blade to create an artwork also brings a sense of intimacy. To truly
appreciate this type of artwork you are required to come close and
experience the art as the artist does, at an arm’s length.
