Kala Exworthy

Kala learned to weave in Sandefjord, Norway.  She finished her BFA in Fiber Art at Northern Michigan University. Now, any available time is spent living her dream; enjoying her studio space and teaching at the Weaver’s Guild of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

“Weaving, with it’s endless possibilities, fascinates me. It’s like creating a tangible story with a purpose. The texture of the thread, the color it’s next to, the direction it’s laying, the light it’s exposed to, all influence what we see. My favorite ingredient is color. I can play endlessly with color combinations and textures.”

Kala Exworthy is open on Friday, Saturday & Sunday of Art-A-Whirl weekend.

2021 Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, Art-A-Whirl© will not be held as a normal event. However, we will be hosting in-person visits during special extended retail hours that weekend, on May 14th – 16th, at my studio in the Northrup King Building! If you’d like to come to the studio in person, we will be open during the following hours:

Friday, May 14:  12:00 – 8:00 pm

Saturday, May 15: 12:00 – 8:00 pm

Sunday, May 16:  12:00 – 4:00 pm
