Consisting primarily of large scale colored pencil drawings and sculptural installations, my work is fundamentally about who we are as individuals and as a society. In a national climate that is increasingly divisive, in which many people feel perfectly at ease with — sometimes proud of — their own ignorance and indignation, I am interested in encouraging empathy, wonder, and reflection on what makes us human, in all our filth and our glory. My work attempts to explore contemporary life in all its complexity: it is at once funny and somber, personal and political, comically bright and darkly serious.
