Art-A-Whirl 2024 offerings

In addition to artworks available in my studio, this year I’m pleased to offer two types of custom portraits:

  • The silhouette is a portrait technique  widely used from the 16th-19th Centuries, long before an image could be permanently recorded onto paper.
  • The photo collage is inspired by paper and quilt collages. I use patterns (color of your choice) to digitally create a collage built from your portrait.
See examples of both types of portraiture in the image gallery below. Won’t make it to Art-A-Whirl? Reach out and we can make an appointment for another time.

Cyanotype link to this group

These images were made using the cyanotype photographic process. Cyanotype is one of the oldest printing processes in the history of photography. Named for its watery blue color, it uses sunlight to expose an image and water to stop the exposure. Just like us, cyanotype needs water and light to exist.

The Mississippi Watershed connects two-thirds of the United States. With its origin in Minnesota, the watershed stretches from Montana to Pennsylvania to Louisiana. It reaches across 32 states and 2 Canadian provinces. All these images were made in the Mississippi Watershed. Some are made with the river water itself and some are made with plants from the watershed.
